Five Vignettes

for flute/piccolo, clarinet/bass clarinet, violin, cello

Written for and performed by Hub New Music for the Red Note Music Festival 2022

Trying a cheese charcuterie, an evening of wine tasting, a box of chocolates: what would a musical equivalent sound like? These five vignettes are meant to be approached in a similar way. Each vignette has it's own singular focus but also has relationships with the other four. They are small works of art, meant to be enjoyed in the present moment then moving on to the next. The nature of these vignettes, as with cheese, wine, and chocolates, are meant to be enjoyable and impermanent experiences.
